Deprecation Notice: Shimmer 9DoF Calibration Application

Deprecation Notice: Shimmer 9DoF Calibration Application

As part of our ongoing effort to modernize and streamline the Shimmer software ecosystem, we are officially deprecating the Shimmer 9DoF Calibration Application (Windows) V2.12.
The application will remain available for legacy purposes, but users are now strongly encouraged to perform all 9DoF calibration procedures using Consensys 2.X.

Why the Change?

The standalone 9DoF Calibration utility was originally designed to support earlier generations of Shimmer firmware and workflows. However, with the advancements made in Consensys 2.X, calibration workflows are now directly integrated into the main software platform—providing a more seamless, guided, and user-friendly experience.

By consolidating calibration functions within Consensys, we reduce the need for multiple utilities, improve cross-platform consistency, and ensure continued support as firmware and sensor capabilities evolve.

Improved Calibration Experience

Consensys 2.X introduces a more intuitive calibration interface, guiding users through each step of the 9DoF calibration process.

For example, during gyroscope calibration, the software now visually demonstrates the required rotation movements through an animation. This is to help users calibrate their sensors without having to refer to other external materials such as the calibration/video guide.

Shimmer3R Calibration Now via Consensys 2.X

Shimmer3R calibration is now supported through Consensys 2.X.
This means users can perform accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer calibration across Shimmer3 and Shimmer3R devices within a unified workflow.
